Avacal has made a number of friends in the 10 years it has been a kingdom and we are lucky to welcome many of them to help us celebrate at our 10 year celebration and instruct our fine populace and attendees!

Count Sir Valbrandr Stugr visiting from Trimaris
My name is Valbrandr Strugr. As a knight of the SCA, I have recently embraced the path to laurel. I am apprentice to Master Heinrich of Trimaris. I am a blacksmith primarily, with a specialty in blades. Metal is my favorite art medium to work with. This will be my third visit to the wonderful kingdom of Avacal and I am honored to be invited to teach my art form.

Syr Cerric EldVegandi visiting from Trimaris
My name is Syr Cerric EldVegandi and I’ve been in the SCA since 1999. I was initially drawn to all the marshal aspects of the SCA but have found an additional love for the arts and sciences. I was knighted in 2016 and I am a current apprentice to HL Ambra Medici of Trimaris. I enjoy all aspects of Chasing and Repousse metal smithing and also create and teach simple perfume making. I have had the pleasure to visit Avacol in the past and look forward to attending the 10th year anniversary at Quad war this year.

Sir Rauokinn visiting from An Tir
Rauokinn is from the Kingdom of An Tir and has been in the SCA since 1997. She was knighted in 2003; received a Pelican in 2011; was named a lion of An Tir in 2018; received her County in 2022 and was laurelled in 2024. Her first love is fighting, and she is primarily a sword and shield fighter. She is also a very prolific seamstress and is known for high color contrast outfits with loads of embellishment. Her main clothing focuses have been Viking/ Migration Era , Etruscan and ancient Greco-Roman.

Mistress Jadwiga Wlodzislawska visiting from the Middle
Jadwiga Wlodzislawska – usually just called Viggie – hails from the Midlands of the Middle Kingdom. Lured into the SCA with the promise of battle and glory, somehow she ended up a Laurel instead. Now she divides her time between arting and fighting, gathering amusing stories about how embroidery is ruining her body way more than getting hit with sticks. As long as people are still interested in the history tapestry, she’s happy to teach it.

Magister Rozi Galea visiting from Ealdomere
Rozi Galea, recently also known also as Rigel, started historical fencing in 1998 when she was living in the East Kingdom. Working with like-minded fencers in the SCA and from the Higgins Museum of Armor, she realized the value of working directly from period sources and translated sections of Fabris, Alfieri, Carranza and Thibault. Now a citizen of Ealdormere, she has published a complete translation of Falloppia and is presently working on a translation of Ghisliero, in an attempt to better understand late 16th century Italian fencing schools. Rozi’s passion has always been to teach. She has taught diverse aspects of fencing, from creating an 8-week curriculum for new fencers to classes for more advanced fencers, both in pure period technique and in how to apply the period lessons to modern SCA rapier combat. When she stepped up as Society Rapier Marshal, she promised herself she’d visit every Kingdom. The lockdown in March 2020 thwarted that hope as her trip to her last kingdom, Avacal, was planned for April 2020. So she is especially delighted to be at the 10th anniversary event, to put the final piece in her SCA passport, and doing what she loves best.

Sir Kelwin visiting from Artemisia
Kelwin Ratslayer started in the SCA in 1989. She joined mainly for the fighting but spent a lot of time volunteering to run events and hold offices. She received her Pelican in 1995 while Artemisia was still a principality of Atenveldt. She received her Gryphon of Artemisia in 2018 and was Knighted in 2019. Fighting feeds her soul and brings her so much joy. She loves to travel. She has attended events in at least 11 different Kingdoms. She was lucky enough to have attended Avacal’s first Coronet list and first Crown Tourney.

Mistress Aibhiin Inghean Daibhidh
A longtime performer and instigator of bardic shenanigans, Aibhilin has been organizing, participating in, and teaching performing arts in the SCA for over a decade. From instrumental music to commedia dell’Arte, Aibhilin enjoys sharing the history of performing arts as well as their place is our modern society. She currently runs the Bardic Symposium at Pennsic and at Gulf Wars runs the late-period focused Renaissance Village as well as co-running Performing Arts.
